Legislative District Maps
Rockland County's 17 County Legislative districts have been redrawn to equalize the population in each district using data from the 2020 census. Redistricting occurs every 10 years following the results of the U.S. Census to reflect changes in population.
The Rockland County Legislature's Special Committee for Redistricting met and approved resolutions for two proposed plans, Plan A and Plan B, and sent them to the full County Legislature for consideration. The County Legislature held a public hearing on Plan A on Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2022. The County Legislature held a public hearing on Plan B on Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2022.
The County Legislature adopted Plan B on Nov. 1, 2022. The County Executive approved the resolution on Nov. 22, 2022. The law was subject to a permissive referendum, but no petition requesting a referendum was filed as of Feb. 3, 2023. The law was filed with the New York State Secretary of State on Feb. 8, 2023, when it took effect.
The new County Legislative Districts are in effect as of Jan. 1, 2024.
All 17 County Legislature seats are up for election this November. All candidates will run for seats in districts that are reflected by the new maps.
On this page, you will find details about the redistricting process, a link to an overview map of the districts, and links to individual maps of each of the 17 Legislative Districts.
