Legislator Paul Joins Spring Valley Village Pool Reopening & Celebrates Upgrades To Historic Rotunda
State SWIMS Funds & County’s ARPA Program Made Improvements Possible
Laughter near Memorial Park in Spring Valley signals the reopening of the village pool – which couldn’t have come at a better – and hotter - time!
The beloved swimming pool has been renovated with new plumbing, resurfacing, and fresh paint - funded with a $214,000 grant awarded through the NY SWIMS program established by Gov. Hochul. The pool serves 30–50 children at a time, with summer campers from the Salvation Army and MLK Jr. Center visiting twice a week.
Nearby, the historic Rotunda, used for important public ceremonies, including Memorial Day and Veterans’ Day, is now ADA-compliant and includes new landscaping and lighting after a $200,000 upgrade through Rockland County’s ARPA program, established by the County Executive and the County Legislature.
Legislator Aney Paul joined Deputy Mayor Joseph Gross and village staff to celebrate the project completions. Contractors Arch Pool Management and Jablkon Construction, both selected via public bid, were recognized for their work.
The event featured a benediction by retired SVPD Detective Reggie Anderson, now a deacon at First Baptist Church; music from the East Ramapo Marching Band; and local nonprofits sharing community resources. The projects were overseen by Nida Sharif and Althea Hutchinson of the village's Office of Community Development & Housing.
