A Message of Thanksgiving from Rockland County Legislature Chairman Jay Hood Jr.

Thanksgiving is special among the holidays. A day set aside to celebrate all that we are thankful for, including our families, friends, community, and certainly, our great nation.

I am so grateful for my children, now entering young adulthood, for my mother, who I cherish even more since the passing of my father several years ago, and my wife, Julie, who is so supportive of me.

I am also grateful, as well as tremendously honored, to represent the people of Haverstraw and Rockland County. We live in a very special place, along the majestic Hudson River and under the watchful eyes of the Ramapo Mountains. We are not without challenges, but we manage to rise above them time and again.

The strength of our county comes from within – from the residents and businesses who lovingly call Rockland home. I am grateful for the many passionate residents who are active, caring and involved in our community. You are the glue that helps bind us all!

I want to thank God for his many blessings, and I wish each of you a very Happy & Healthy Thanksgiving!
