Statement By Rockland County Legislator Toney L. Earl On The Loss Of Hero Dariel Vasquez
“I am saddened to learn of the passing of Dariel Vasquez, a brave young man who lost his life while fighting the wildfire in Sterling Forest State Park in Greenwood Lake. My heartfelt condolences go out to Dariel’s family and friends during this very difficult time.
“At just 18 years old, Dariel, a Ramapo High School graduate who loved playing baseball, was a dedicated individual with ambitious plans for his future, including starting college this January. Dariel died while trying to keep the fire from spreading so that all of us would remain safe. His selfless act will always be remembered. May God Bless Dariel and give his family comfort and strength.”
