“Violence has no place in politics; in fact, violence should never be used in place of the democratic process, and we must call it out whenever and wherever it occurs.

“As a legislative body, we extend our sincerest best wishes to former President Donald J. Trump for a full and speedy recovery from any injuries he may have sustained following the assassination attempt on his life.

“We offer our condolences to the rally-goers who were injured and to family of the attendee killed during this heinous act.

“We also extend our gratitude to law enforcement, who prevented further casualties through their actions.”
