Legislator Paul Joins With Volunteers To Collect Trash From Roadside As Part Of Great American Cleanup

Latest Effort Marks Paul’s 29th Cleanup Since 2014

New City, NY (May 13, 2024) – Rockland County Legislature Vice Chairwoman Aney Paul and a team of volunteers helped rid litter from a local roadside as part of the 2024 Great American Cleanup.

It was the 29th such cleanup led by Legislator Paul since 2014 and held in conjunction with Keep Rockland Beautiful.

“I really thank the volunteers who came out to help make a difference in keeping our community looking its best,” Legislator Paul said. “We collected multiple bags of trash and not only made the neighborhood look cleaner, but we prevented the garbage from washing into waterways that are used by people and wildlife.”

Debris on roadsides is often washed by rain and melted snow into local waterways through storm drains or blown directly into streams and lakes. These waterways help supply drinking water and serve as habitat for aquatic, plant and wildlife.

Thanks to KRB and to the volunteers, including members of the Clarkstown Lions’ Leo Club, the Indian Cultural Heritage & Arts Awareness Club, and the Indian Nurse Practitioners’ Association.

In 2014, Legislator Paul adopted the two-mile stretch of County Route 35A that runs between New Clarkstown Road in Nanuet and Route 59 in Spring Valley.
